The happenings during Monash University orientation week

Wanted to blog a few days ago but felt discouraged by two problems..haih..first of all is I couldn't upload photos into my blog...want to show you all my room ma..haha..and the second reason and the one that I also faced constantly in Inti is slow Internet connection..

Since I'm kinda free tonight and am in the mood of blogging,so here I am typing away my thoughts.But before that,I would like to show you my room via the photos that will be shown below:

of orientation as well as promoting the LG Ice cream hp and there

were Baskin Robbins ice cream to be savoured foc too...hehe....

Here's a short summary of the events during the orientation week.First day was basically the welcome speeches by the various big shots from the uni such as the student council rep,vice chancelor,MUSA(Monash University Students' Association).Besides that,there was also the MOlympic Games recruitment where those freshies who are interested in being part of the games registered their respective names for the various games that will be held.Some of the games that were enlisted are tug of war,hydro balloon war,blind football and etc.True enough,they sounded interesting enough,don't they?At first,I had interest in participating in the games but after seeing that a lot of people are signing up for it,I ended up not signing up for it.Instead,I registered myself for the Orientation Bash organised by MUSA for us,the newbies(haha!) that will take place in Port Dickson on the 7th of March which is on a Saturday and it's a one day trip where there will be games and activities for us.This is not usual kind of activities that I will opt for before this but then I tell myself,if I want to try something different and a little out of my comfort zone,this is the time for me.And I'll definitely enjoy myself to the max on that day and make new friends..Looking forward to that!

Then on the second day of the orientation week,there was this campus tour where the seniors appointed showed us around the campus and the facilities.Come to third day,attended the study skills workshop conducted by Dr. Eric Wong where the essential matters like the proper methods on doing referencing when doing assignments,effective time management,presentation skills and how to write assignments were brought up to our attention.It was interesting but the only thing that I did not really like is that it is too long and towards the end,I got hungry and didn't really pay much attetion to it and waited for it to come to an end.After had lunch with my coursemates,headed to the library to read newspapers and chill down before I went back to the apartment.

On the fourth day which is today,went to uni to have my lunch and handed in the Orientation Bash form.I attended the transitional issues and assertive skills workshop and it was divided into two sections held in two different places.The transitional issues one was up first and it was presented by the MUSA president where it basically tell us how to get the lecture notes,past year papers,and tips on surviving uni life.There were station games introduced but they were a little unexciting and dull.Next,we moved on to the assertive skills conducted by the uni's counselor where we were thought on how to be more assertive in life and I learnt a lot from this workshop.Will learn to be more assertive.

Tomorrow will be the last day of the orientation week and what's left is the workshop for our course that's made compulsory for every student studying the Business course from 2 to 4.

Anyway,for dinner tonight,I attempted to cook instant noodles(Prawn mee flavour,hehe) using the rice cooker and it turned out to be alright.The soup for the instant noodles tasted quite good actually,it's just that it lacked the smell of prawns compared to the real one and also I didn't add in the usual ingredients like bean sprouts and prawns,so it's just noodles inside.Next time will bear in mind to get some frozen crab meat and eggs so that I can have a bowl of more wholesome noodles.Overall,my first attempt in cooking noodles using rice cooker = success!Hehe!

Haven't felt like this for a long time...

It wasn't a pleasant feeling...due to eating food that could have been a lil' stale, I experienced the sourish discomfort and pain of having tummyache cause of diarrhoea..had to make visits to the washroom for around 5 times..have to drink lots of water before I get dehydrated...hahahaha....

It's been some time since I had one and I would rather stay at home the whole day cos it's just so.....UNCOMFORTABLE!!!Fortunately,now it's better but still have to watch my food if I don't want it to go back to square one...grrr....

Last post at home before embarking on university life in Monash

I'll be leaving home for KL tomorrow where I'll be continuing on the journey of life into the next important phase:university.Checking into the accomodation on Saturday and then the orientation begins on Monday.Talked to my bro this morning for a while and his few pieces of advice for me are to work hard and play hard and to make sure that this coming three years will be the happiest and memorable years in life.Will take heed of his wise advice as in the future,I would not want to look back and harbour pangs of regrets wishing that I could have done or accomplish more during the uni years like what he told me.So,am gonna work hard in my studies but also not forgetting to live life to the fullest as well.Like ppl say,study hard,play harder..hahaha...am not gonna play so hard till my grades fail also la..am not that irresponsible k..wakakaka...

And for my SPM as well as STPM leavers juniors and friends, I would like to say something that is very important and the lesson I've learnt.It is when you're deciding on what you wanna pursue in your higher education,it is no longer following friends to do this/that course but it is you who decide what you truly want/aspire to be.You can still follow friends when taking pre-U studies but when it comes to degree,that's when the real deal takes place.Take in advice and get opinions from others but in the end,give the best considerations and follow your heart.And once you have made a decision,go on with it and try not to look back and have questions of 'what-ifs' in your mind like what I experienced yesterday.I had at times doubted myself whether am I smart enough for accounting or I should have insisted on studying pharmacy last time when I had the opportunity?It's not that I loath accounting very much..I quite like it and love dealing with figures but the real thing that I was doubting myself was am I going to make a good accountant after I graduated later.Then,this phrase of my mum's sinks me back into the practical world,'You have made your decision to pursue accounting therefore direct your focus and concentrate on it.Don't think too much.'So I'm just going to follow what she has told me.

Last Friday,went to grandma's place and my cute nephew was there.His cheeky older brother was not there because he followed his mum somewhere.Anyway,looking at him is enough to lighten my day and quietly snapped a pic of him when he was sleeping.Hehe...

CNY Gathering at Pen's house on the fourth day

I knew that this post is way long due.I apologise from the bottom of my heart that I have abandoned this bloggie for some time..not that I don't have plans to update it earlier but the reason why I was procrastinating was because of my new found addiction which is watching taiwanese series..

Before this,I don't really fancy watching Taiwanese series either because I don't like the story line or I don't like the castings or the way too silly characters.But,after having watching Miss No Good(Wilber Pan is such a hottie n cool!), I began to crave more for good Taiwanese series to watch and spent most of my time watching online thus delaying my time updating my blog.If you all would like to start watching Taiwanese series(the ones speaking mandarin,not hokkien shows), I will recommend Fated to Love You.It has made me laugh at some of the funny scenes and also made me break into tears at the touching scenes.

So, the 5 of us,me,Siow Wern,Dee,Corrinne and Tina went for Pen Nie's house to 'bai nian'.Before we had our lunch, we all played with Pen's three cute puppies.At first,I dared not even touch one single fur of the puppies.Not that I dislike puppies.I do adore adorable puppies,it's just that I dare not hold them in my arms.However,after much coaxing and seeing how my friends touch them so tenderly,it makes me wanna play with the puppies too.Since then,I like holding puppies.The way they lie on your tummy and the feeling when you stroke them,it's like caring for a small yet fragile baby and it's one great feeling to experience!

Yesterday,I was supposed to write about the cookies that me n mum baked on thursday.However,had dinner and hanged out with friends in the evening till late at night so felt too tired and lazy to write anything.N then I was thinking I might not have the time or the mood to blog when the celebrations are going on,so I might as well update my little blog with something..

So,this year,my mum tried two extra kind of cookies..One is already mentioned and even shown on my previous post..However,for those who've forgotten bout them,I'll be so kind as to recap the name of the so-called cookies..it's the orange twin chip cookies.And the other baked on thursday is the roll dates cookies.The photos will be shown before I end this post..So,for those of you who r not known for their patience or already salivating(hehe!!!),just hold on for a little while,k??

Helped my mum in baking two types of cakes today.These annual cakes are orange prune cake and chocolate cake.
